Emily Wickersham didn’t know if motherhood was ever in the cards for her. Now that it is, we caught up with the new mama and NCIS actress to see how she’s entering this next chapter of life.
You recently left NCIS after seven years where the cast and crew felt like family to you. Now that you’re growing your own family what are you most excited for?
Working on a show like that was incredible because I got to act every day, which is something that doesn’t come around that often. I didn’t know if I’d ever get that type of job, and when I did all my energy was put into the work. I loved it, I love working… but it doesn’t leave much time for anything else. I’ve always felt I wanted a family and to have kids but I didn’t know when or if that would happen. Now that it’s actually happening I almost can’t believe it!
What has been the most surprising thing you’ve learned about yourself during pregnancy?
How calm I am around change! It was surprising to me because in my life change has been a very hard thing, but in pregnancy I’ve been very calm and go-with-the-flow with all the new changes that have come along.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve received from a fellow mama?
Follow your instincts!
What are you looking forward to most about motherhood?
Pouring all my love into this little guy.
What is the can’t-miss self-care ritual you do when you need to find some peace?
I’ll take a walk or a run (when I’m not pregnant) to settle my mind. Or, if we’re talking more beauty stuff… I really like to lie down and give myself a face massage. It’s so relaxing!
